Our School District
Welcome to Carlsbad Municipal School District
Carlsbad Municipal School District (CMSD) serves more than 7,100 students across a network of schools, including one preschool, seven elementary schools, two middle schools, a comprehensive high school, and an Early College High School that allows students to earn college credits while completing their high school education. The district also operates the Carlsbad Enrichment Center, which offers flexible, alternative learning pathways tailored to individual student needs.
CMSD takes a holistic approach to education, combining rigorous academics with a wide range of extracurricular and athletic programs that support student growth beyond the classroom. With a strong focus on career readiness, particularly in the region’s vital oil and gas sector, the district prepares students for both higher education and the workforce. In close partnership with the City of Carlsbad, CMSD regularly hosts events that engage students, families, and the broader community, strengthening civic pride and collaboration. At its core, CMSD is dedicated to helping every student reach their full potential and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
